Keeping It Basic

Hey there bestie!

I haven’t posted for a few days – I’ve been busy!

Yesterday was Mother’s Day, but I wasn’t feeling too great, plus the air quality outside was terrible, thanks to Canadian wild fires.

So I lounged a lot, took a long bath, did some stretchy yoga. I played “Life” the board game with my kiddos, and we also watched Mrs. Doubtfire.

Saturday and Friday I was working at our event center in town. There was a women’s expo, and I got to serve wine samples – it was so much fun!

And I didn’t wear loafers after all, I wore perfectly clean white sneakers with a business casual outfit and it was totally fine. Didn’t get any good pictures though – whoops.

Today I wanted to get ready as quickly as possible without much thought. I didn’t feel super cute in this outfit but it was fine enough.

Blue Sky Thursday

Some days, I feel like I’ve got my life fairly well together … but most days I do things like, drive the wrong direction down a one-way road.

Today was a “wrong direction down a one-way” kinda day apparently. Whoops.

luckily there weren’t too many cars and I got turned around quickly!

Feeling inspired by the bright blue sky, I tried out a mono-tone sorta outfit today

I wasn’t sure if all the blues were working together at first, but yes I did feel pretty cute in this getup…plus a random guy at Target hit on me so, I guess I didn’t look too bad! *wink

No Coffee – Day 26

Dear Coffee,

I love you and I respect you. You’ve been part of my life for as long as I can remember. And wow have we had some adventures together!

But over time, I’ve noticed that my body doesn’t love you as much as my mouth does. Drinking you means racing heart and anxiety. It means I’m faster to lose my temper. Low quality sleep. Stained teeth. Stained car seats. Stomach aches. Headaches.

I’ve had to finally be honest with myself and realize it’s time we split ways. Maybe we can be friends again in the future? But for now, let’s keep our distance.

And in your absence, I’ve fallen deeply madly in love now with matcha. The subtle buzz and mellow flavor. The vibrant green that makes my heart sing with joy. It’s the best part of my morning (and sometimes afternoon as well.)

My favorite recipe for a homemade matcha is as follows…

Homemade Matcha

  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1/4 cup oat milk
  • 1/2 TBSP matcha powder
  • 1 tsp maple syrup (or honey)
  • * dash of cinnamon optional

warm both milks together over low heat

add matcha powder, syrup and cinnamon (if using) to your favorite mug, adding a small amount of warmed milk to the mug and mix with a frother or small whisk. Top with rest of warmed milk.

Drink slowly, with gratitude and appreciation. This is self-care at its finest my friend.
